Magma Vein begins with stabilized maple burl dyed a deep charcoal grey and black, transforming the twisting burl figure into a smoky, almost charred landscape. Cutting through that darkness is a fiery blend of lava red and orange acrylic, creating the look of molten rock forcing its way through cooled volcanic stone.

The maple burl still brings all the wild eyes, curls, and unpredictable grain that make burl so desirable, but the dark dye gives it an entirely different personality. Against the nearly black wood, every streak and pocket of red-orange acrylic comes alive.

As this piece is shaped and polished, expect the contrast to become even more dramatic—smoky figured burl against glowing veins of fire.
