Sometimes nature's most beautiful work happens slowly.

Mossbound Relic begins with a richly figured piece of stabilized cherry burl, filled with the swirling grain, eyes, and unpredictable character that make burl wood so sought after. Rather than covering that natural beauty, a deep moss green acrylic has been used sparingly—lacing across the very top of the blank and slipping into some of the fine natural cracks below.

The effect feels wonderfully organic, like moss beginning to creep across an old fallen tree while tiny traces of green find their way into the weathered grain.

Warm cherry tones remain the heart of the piece, while the deep green creates just enough contrast to draw attention to the burl's natural imperfections and intricate figure. As the blank is shaped, those subtle green-filled cracks will appear and disappear throughout the handle, creating small unexpected details along the way.
